1. What inspired you to start ReeMee, and how does its vision reflect your journey in the visual design industry, especially its commitment to being pocket-friendly, genderless, and inclusive?
ReeMee was born out of my passion for visual design and a deep belief that design is more than aesthetics—it’s about creating meaningful, transformative experiences. Throughout my journey as a creative professional, I’ve learned the profound impact of merging form and function, from leading design teams to building an all-women design studio and teaching at a premier institute. I noticed a lack of accessible, inclusive platforms that celebrated creativity while addressing everyday practicality.
ReeMee’s vision is shaped by this realization. We curate products that are not just visually appealing but also functional, affordable, and reflective of a modern, diverse world. By being pocket-friendly, we ensure that great design is accessible to everyone. Our genderless and inclusive ethos challenges traditional boundaries, celebrating individuality and the unique ways people express themselves. ReeMee isn’t just a brand—it’s a community where everyone can find tools to stay organized, inspired, and expressive without compromising on style or values.
2. How do you approach the process of curating products for ReeMee? What principles guide the balance between aesthetics and functionality?
Every product at ReeMee begins with a question: How can it enhance someone’s life visually and practically? My background in visual design has ingrained in me the importance of detail—whether it’s the choice of materials, colors, or the user experience. The curation process involves deep research and testing to ensure that every product strikes the right balance between aesthetics and functionality. I follow three guiding principles:
- Timeless Design: Ensuring that the products have an enduring visual appeal.
- Purposeful Utility: Each product must solve a problem or elevate an everyday activity.
- Creative Expression: Encouraging individuality and inspiration through design.
This balance allows ReeMee to offer products that seamlessly integrate into both personal and professional spaces.
3. How does ReeMee foster collaboration, networking, and professional growth within the Visual Design community in India?
ReeMee fosters collaboration, networking, and professional growth within the Visual Design community in India by building a vibrant ecosystem where creativity thrives through shared experiences and collective innovation. Our vision is to create an inclusive space that empowers designers to learn, grow, and connect. To achieve this, we will be hosting hands-on workshops led by industry experts, focusing on emerging trends, advanced tools, and cutting-edge techniques. These workshops are designed not just to enhance technical skills but to inspire creativity and innovation, providing a platform for designers to interact, exchange ideas, and gain fresh perspectives.
Additionally, we actively seek collaborations with talented designers for co-branded projects. These initiatives enable creative professionals to showcase their work, gain visibility, and connect with wider audiences, ultimately strengthening the community while fostering individual growth. Through these efforts, ReeMee is dedicated to nurturing a collaborative and forward-thinking Visual Design community in India.
4. What challenges have you faced in building ReeMee, and what lessons have been most impactful in shaping its journey?
Building ReeMee has been both rewarding and challenging. One of the primary challenges was transitioning from leading design teams to managing a brand where I wear multiple hats—from product curation to marketing and community building. Another challenge was creating products that resonate with a wide audience while staying true to our core ethos of form and function.
The most impactful lesson has been the importance of adaptability. Design evolves rapidly, and so do consumer needs. ReeMee’s journey has taught me to stay grounded in our vision while remaining flexible in execution. Collaboration has also been key—whether it’s working with suppliers, engaging with the community, or learning from peers, every interaction has contributed to ReeMee’s growth.
5. How do you envision the future of the visual design industry in India, and what role do you see ReeMee playing in driving this evolution?
The visual design industry in India is at a pivotal moment. As digital spaces expand and creativity becomes central to businesses, the demand for thoughtful, impactful design is growing exponentially. I envision a future where design is not seen as an afterthought but as a critical driver of innovation and storytelling. ReeMee aims to play a crucial role by equipping designers with tools that inspire creativity and by fostering a thriving community. Our mission is to bridge the gap between form and function, ensuring that design remains accessible, inclusive, and impactful in shaping India’s creative landscape.
