Surat (Gujarat) [India]: A five-day National Silk Expo has been organized at Maharaja Agrasen Bhavan in Citylight, Surat. The expo, which started on October 16, offers a wide range of silk and cotton sarees, designer ethnic dresses, dress materials, and home linens for women. Running from October 16 to 20, the expo will be open from 11 AM to 9 PM daily. This is a direct weavers exhibition and sale, where all silk and cotton products are available at weavers’ prices.
The key highlight of the event is the craftsmanship displayed by master weavers and top designers from across India. Special collections for Diwali and Karva Chauth, featuring the latest designs and varieties of sarees and suits, are available, along with discounts of up to 50%.
The expo showcases a vast range of sarees and fabrics from different states of India, all in one place, eliminating the need to visit multiple stores for shopping. Customers can choose from various designs and price ranges, ensuring a shopping experience that fits every budget. Multiple payment options, including debit and credit cards, are also available for customers.
Weavers from Bihar, Assam, Odisha, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Andhra Pradesh have brought their popular silk varieties to the expo. The Gujarat double ikkat handmade Patola saree, priced between ₹15,000 to ₹2 lakh and taking eight months to create, is a standout item. Tamil Nadu’s pure zari work Kanjeevaram saree, crafted with gold and silver threads, is also a major attraction.
Sarees from Banaras, Jamdani silk, Kanchipuram, Bihar Tussar, Bhagalpuri silk, Gujarat Bandhani and Patola, Bengal’s Baluchari, Kantha, and hand-painted sarees, along with Dhakai Jamdani, Paithani, MP Chanderi, Maheshwari, and Shibori are all available at this expo. Additionally, fabrics such as Mysore silk, crepe, georgette, Andhra Pradesh’s Uppada, and Odisha’s Muga silk are also part of this vast collection.
