Most of her projects are around 3,000 square feet, and she has become quite comfortable working with this scale.
The Birth of Homework
Homework was conceived as part of Shagun’s vision to express her creativity in interior design. With a background in hotel management, she gained valuable insights from her family’s influence in the hospitality industry. Shagun graduated from the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration and began her career with ITC Hotels in sales and marketing. She later joined her father’s company, AM Services 24×7 Pvt. Ltd., where she introduced the Homework brand.
While her father’s firm initially provided skilled manpower to various corporate clients, Shagun saw the potential to grow the business by adding well-known names like Cushman & Wakefield and ITC Hotels to its portfolio. However, she felt the need to engage more personally with her work, which led her to focus on interior design and establish Homework.
Design Philosophy and Approach
Shagun describes her design sensibility as contemporary classic, blending traditional elements with modern aesthetics. She believes a home should be warm and inviting, reflecting the unique story of its owner. With years of experience in cleaning services, she is mindful of suggesting easy-to-maintain yet beautiful materials. Her designs often incorporate rich Indian textiles, showcasing the country’s finest fabrics.
Some notable projects by Shagun include DLF Crest, DLF Belaire, DLF ICON, and many others, each reflecting her distinct style and attention to detail. She emphasizes the importance of originality in her work, stating, “I am happy to try different styles, but I like to stay true to my design sensibility. I am not open to copying other designers’ works.”
Homework Interior Design Studio
Homework Interior Design Studio, a division of AM Services 24×7 Pvt. Ltd., is now a comprehensive service provider for homeowners looking to renovate their spaces. The brand started in 2012, initially offering deep cleaning and marble polishing services, quickly becoming a leader in this niche market. By 2015, Homework had built a loyal customer base of nearly 2,500 homes, thanks to the skilled workforce they invest in.
Recognizing the frustrations homeowners face during renovations, Shagun expanded Homework’s services to include complete design and execution solutions. By the end of 2021, Homework had successfully completed around 50 full home renovations and 200 bathroom makeovers.
In 2020, they formally introduced design consulting, allowing them to confidently take on design projects and charge for their expertise. Today, Homework is truly a one-stop shop for home improvements and makeovers, combining Shagun’s passion for interior design with a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
