New Delhi [India]: Dr. Monica B. Sood, the CEO of Navjivan Group and Chairperson of the National Unity & Security Council in India, was honored with the Global Excellence in Leadership Award at the Global Excellence in Leadership Summit & Awards (GELSA) 2024. The event, organized by the Movastacon Foundation at the UK Parliament, brought together global leaders to discuss international cooperation, leadership, and economic growth.
Dr. Sood received the award from Mr. Gareth Bacon, a Member of Parliament in the UK, for her exceptional work in promoting Ayurveda—a traditional Indian system of health and wellness—on a global scale. Through the Navjivan Group, Dr. Sood has helped expand Ayurvedic wellness to 40 countries, making it a recognized health solution around the world.
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Sood thanked everyone and talked about India’s rapid growth, especially under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She shared her vision for stronger relations between India and the UK by 2030, highlighting the role Ayurveda can play in improving healthcare globally. Dr. Sood suggested that Ayurveda could work alongside the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) to provide holistic treatments and ease the pressure on traditional medical systems.
She also shared her hopes for India and the UK to deepen their partnership by working together in areas like technology, green energy, healthcare, and education. Dr. Sood believes this collaboration can create new opportunities for both countries and strengthen ties beyond just economic and diplomatic relations. She highlighted the important role of the Indian diaspora in the UK in fostering these connections.
Dr. Sood also spoke about defense and security, emphasizing the need for India and the UK to work together on military exercises, technology sharing, and defense manufacturing. Additionally, she called for joint efforts to combat climate change through renewable energy and sustainability initiatives.
In healthcare, Dr. Sood discussed the importance of working together on research, vaccine development, and medical technology. She emphasized that Ayurveda, with its holistic approach, could benefit the UK’s healthcare system through partnerships with the NHS.
Dr. Sood’s leadership has played a key role in promoting Ayurveda globally, earning her recognition in international forums. Her dedication to combining traditional medicine with modern healthcare systems continues to influence how Ayurveda is viewed around the world.
