Soumita Saha Shines on the Cover of Elysian Magazine

Acclaimed singer Soumita Saha has added another feather to her cap by gracing the cover of the prestigious Elysian Magazine. Featured as part of the “The Unheard Stories” series, curated by Shruti Singh, Soumita’s appearance is a celebration of resilience, self-love, and authenticity.

In a heartfelt message accompanying the announcement, Soumita shared empowering thoughts on body positivity. She emphasized that body positivity is not an excuse to neglect health but a celebration of self-acceptance. She challenged societal notions that beauty and worth are confined to specific body types, highlighting that true allure transcends size and shape. Reflecting on her journey, she shared how, less than two years ago, despite being younger and slimmer, she didn’t fit the mold of a magazine cover girl. Today, she celebrates this milestone as a testament to hard work and staying true to herself.

Soumita eloquently expressed her perspective, saying, “I do not advocate for obesity or glorify neglecting health under the guise of body positivity. Yet, sometimes, nonconformity can be empowering. Perfection isn’t required to excel—it’s your skill, influence, and authenticity that matter. Eighteen months ago, I was fitter and younger but never graced a magazine cover. True distinction lies in refining one’s craft, not shedding a few kilos. I’m proud to be on this cover.”

Known for her graceful elegance, Soumita blends timeless charm with a modern edge. Beyond her musical prowess, she is a trained painter who uses her artistic sensibility to create unique and sophisticated statements.

Soumita’s journey in music has been equally remarkable. Her exploration of original EDM tracks and soulful renditions of Tagore’s works has established her as a versatile artist. Her Indo-French collaborations, inspired by Tagore’s essence, have sparked widespread acclaim, adding a unique dimension to India’s music scene. Her avant-garde music videos have been showcased at prominent film festivals, highlighting her innovative approach to cross-cultural expression.

Her recent composition, “Rupang Dehi”, inspired by the RG Kar incident, has been embraced as a “song of hope,” resonating deeply with her audience. With roots in both Kolkata and Mumbai, Soumita balances her life as a composer, cultural writer, and now an aspiring author. Her upcoming literary debut, a women-centric saga, promises to be as heartfelt as her music. A vocal advocate for mental health, Soumita continues to inspire with her words, music, and art, creating a legacy that transcends mediums.
